Cheese lovers

Cheese lovers, it’s time to make your mouth cheesy, drink a glass of good wine and enjoy the flavours.

How to store cheese?

  • If you have opened a packet of cheese and want to keep it fresh, you could wrap it in foil or waxed paper specially designed for food. Brie and Camembert, for example, can last for several weeks in waxed paper, while Cheddar and Parmesan can last in foil.
  • Don’t pack the cheese in too tightly, as it also needs a little breathing space to retain its best qualities.
  • To keep the humidity level right, you could place your packaged cheese in an airtight box.
  • After each time you cut a slice of cheese with a knife, you could change the wrapping paper – this will prevent different bacteria from getting into the cheese.
  • To bring out the best in the cheese, you should take it out of the fridge and let it stand for a while before serving.

Which cheese to choose?

  • Blue cheese is perfect for pasta, pizza or with pears, apples and peaches.
  • Dutch cheese with truffle and leek is suitable as a cheese spread, on crackers or grated into pasta dishes.
  • Dutch cheese with olives and tomatoes is a great example in a grilled cheese sandwich.
  • Mascarpone should be grabbed if you plan to make desserts (such as Tiramisu cake).
  • Cow’s milk cheese goes well in a rye salad or on bruschetta with tomato and spices.

Have a cheesy day,
