Description

Savoiardi cookies are a treat originating from the Principality of Savoy in Italy, with a history dating back to the 15th century. According to legend, they were first made for a visit by the King of France and were so well received that they later became the official “court cookie,” served to guests as a representation of local cuisine.

Savoiardi cookies are light and airy because no leavening agents are used in their preparation—it is the air incorporated into the whipped eggs that gives them their unique texture. Thanks to their delicate texture and mild flavor, they’re perfect both as a treat on their own and for making classic Italian desserts, such as tiramisu.
